Tool paper on HeapLens in the companion proceedings of SPLASH 2026, the ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Systems, Programming, Languages, and Applications.

A short paper on HeapLens appears in the companion proceedings of SPLASH 2026, the ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Systems, Programming, Languages, and Applications, in the joint SPLASH/ISSTA Tool Demonstrations track. It is open access, pages 80 to 84, under doi:10.1145/3837729.3840479.

The paper describes what the tool does and how it is built: a Rust backend that memory-maps the HPROF file and computes dominators over a compressed sparse row reference graph, a query engine, an eleven-view interface inside the editor, jump-to-source navigation from a retained class to its Java declaration, and a diagnosis panel that can run against a local model so a sensitive heap never leaves the machine. It reports timing and peak memory on dumps up to 14.8 GB.

HeapLens itself is open source under Apache 2.0. The project page has the longer description.
